Welcome!  Guest

Ooty

Ooty is arranged profound inside the Nilgiri slopes (which can be truly deciphered as The Blue Mountains). It is obscure whether this name emerges from the blue smoky murkiness radiated by the eucalyptus trees that cover the zone or from the kurunji blossom, which sprouts like clockwork giving the inclines a pale blue tinge.Nilgiris all in all was ruled by Ganga rulers and later by Hoysala rulers, especially Vishnuvardhana who caught Wynad and Nilgiri territory amid the eleventh century.Tippu Sultan was the first to amplify his outskirt by developing an alcove hollow like structure. It was initially a tribal land and was possessed by the Todas alongside different tribes who existed together through specialization and exchange. The significant tribes of Nilagiri territory are Toda individuals, Kotas, Badagas and Alu Kurumbas, who settled in and around Ooty. The main reference of Todas in Nilgiri is found in a record dated 1117 A.D. Toda individuals are known for raising water bison and Badaga individuals at their cultivating activities.Frederick Cost in his book Ootacamund, A History expresses that the range called 'Old Ooty' was initially possessed by the Todas.
